Writer guidelines

These guidelines keep Parchment a place readers trust. Every story is reviewed against them before it is published.

What we publish

  • Original stories, essays, guides and opinions written by you.
  • Writing based on real experience, knowledge or careful research.
  • Stories in English with a clear title and a clear point.

What we do not publish

  • Copied, plagiarised or mostly AI-generated text presented as your own.
  • Spam, thin promotional content or posts written only to place links.
  • Hate, harassment, threats, or content that exploits or harms anyone.
  • Adult content, illegal content, or misleading health and money claims.
  • Other people’s private information.

Good practice

  • Add a featured image you have the right to use, and credit the source.
  • Pick the one topic that fits your story best.
  • Link to sources for facts and figures.
  • Up to two relevant links to your own website or products are fine when they help the reader.
